"A picture can speak a thousand words"

We hope you enjoy these pictures from throughout the past few months.  At times it is hard to describe what life is like here, but it is our hope that in sending these photo updates, many of you will catch the burden for ministry here.  We so appreciate your prayers.

Editor's note:  If you would like to be removed from our Congo photo update, please just jot us a quick note, and we would be happy to take you off of our list.  We realize that this type of update is cumbersome for some to download.

August . . .

Discipleship with Munanga, Mbuka, and Mukwahata --  Weekly Robert & I treck the 30 minute walk past where the church is to descend into the valley where Munanga lives.  It is a quite setting free of distractions and full of God's creative beauty.

Our co-workers, Robert & Esther Marsh --  In the background you can see some of the many children that come each sunday to Sanga Mamba.

September -- Botswana.

September brought our trip to Botswana.  It was a dual purpose trip -- our vacation for the year, plus a working trip to help in the building of the Kanye church's first building.  Here to fore they had been meeting in a secondary school complex.  A team from the States was came the same week that we did for the purpose of working on the church building.

Darla's father kept us busy during the days with physical labor, as well as plenty of ministry opportunities, teaching and preaching.

Darla's folk's goal was to fatten us up while we were there.  They sure made a good attempt at it  :)

We did get to take naps in the afternoon . . . just incase you don't think this sounds like much of a vacation!!

Darla got to spend the bulk of her time in the kitchen with her mom.  We hadn't gotten to see Darla's folks since our wedding in '97.

November

One highpoint of the month was the nice camping trip we were able to take out to Hebron, a church on the outskirts of town that Darla's Grandfather started.

I was privileged to lead the devotions at the crack of dawn the next morning, while the girls were busy teaching chapel in the church's nearby primary school.

Thanksgiving

So what do missionaries in Africa do on Thanksgiving anyway?  Well, we were able to find a really nice spot to do so.  It is about a hour's drive out of the city, and as you can see, beautiful.  It wasn't long before we were wading through the rapids, and yep, you guessed it -- accidentally on purpose fell in.  We didn't get to have turky, but did enjoy a wonderful rare treat of hamburgers and pasta salad, and home meade pumpkin pie :)

We are thankful for how God has blessed us this past year, and for the blessing of being able to continue to minister in this country.  We do so appreciate your prayers.
